IBC Tanks® Stainless Steel Intermediate Bulk Containers
The stainless steel IBC tote is a heavy-duty, highly reusable container with intensive hygiene capabilities ideal for a wide range of applications, cargo commodities, storage, and transport. Stainless steel IBCs are engineered for purity, durability, longevity, and accessibility. Storage volumes range from 120 gallons to 550 gallons.

Overview
Stainless steel IBC tote tanks are UN/DOT 31A/Y certified liquid handling containers built for regulated transit across freight networks and in-house applications. SS IBCs are designed for easy handling, improved organization, direct workflow integration, and container accessibility. The container products are made from 304 grade, 10 gauge stainless steel professionally welded and finished, setting the industry standard. 304 stainless steel metal and UN/DOT certification approves SS totes for shipping and handling of company liquids, compatible chemicals, and Packing Group II and III hazardous materials (hazmat).
Stainless steel IBCs can be used on-site to distribute or receive commodities, for mixing, blending, batching, aging, fermentation, as well as shipping company products across regulated transit networks including road freight, railway, and maritime vessels.

Why Choose Stainless Steel IBC Totes
Chemical Compatibility & Corrosion Resistance
Being made from 304 or 316L grade stainless steel alloy, SS IBCs provide significant chemical compatibility and corrosion resistance to compatible cargo. The metal alloy allows SS IBC use with materials, liquids and solvents that cannot be used with poly IBC totes due to concerns with compatibility, adsorption, and swelling.
Versatility Across Cargo & Applications
Stainless steel is a high-strength, reliable, long service metal that provides versatility across work environments, select applications, and commodities allowing an SS IBC container to be used with a company’s cargo products, chemicals, paints, coatings, and materials.
Engineered for Efficiency
Large volume capacity, large diameter manway, “no-heel” bottom with bulk discharge valve, lifting lugs and forklift capabilities improves overall workflow efficiency leading to shorter work times in packaging, shipment loading, warehousing, and unloading.
Long Term Value & Reusability
Price and value go hand-in-hand for stainless steel IBC containers. While more expensive than poly totes, with a potential service life greater than 20 years, an SS IBC provides significant long term value. Further, if the intended company application changes, SS IBCs can often be professionally cleaned, serviced, and certified for reuse.
Contribution to “Green” & Circular Business Models
Due to their metal alloy construction and engineering that provides a long service life, reusability, and recyclability, stainless steel IBCs contribute to the circular economy business model and can help companies “go green,” lower their carbon footprint, and contribute to environmental sustainability.
Scalability & Company Growth
Long service life, versatility, and reusability makes stainless steel IBCs a long-term asset, allowing a company to scale and grow by adding additional SS IBCs to their on-site workflows and transport fleet.
Stainless Steel IBC Applications

Features & Options | Stainless Steel IBC Totes
Drain Valve | Tank Discharge

Side Discharge
The side discharge drain valve and sump are the standard option for stainless steel IBC containers. Allows 3-way forklift access and release of cargo from the side of the IBC where the drain valve is located.
This option is ideal for free-flowing, low viscosity materials, gravity feed operations, and where side access is beneficial.

Front Center Discharge
The front center discharge drain valve option places the drainage valve front and center. Allows 2-way forklift access with safety channels and cargo release from the front of the IBC.
This option is ideal for higher viscosity materials and applications where forward access to the IBC is required or beneficial by the work case or setting.

True Center Discharge
The true center discharge drain valve and sump integrates a hopper-style base for cargo release from the IBC tank’s true center. Allows 2-way fork access with safety channels.
This option is ideal for high viscosity, slow-flowing materials, powdered or granulated cargo, and when absolute minimal product residual is desired.
IBC Options | Tank Configurations

304 or 316L Grade SS
Stainless steel IBC tote products are available in either 304 or 316L grade stainless steel to maximize compatibility, longevity, and reusability.
SS IBC products are provided in 304 stainless steel, standard. 316L stainless steel IBC containers are available on request.

Fitting Sizes, Valve Types, Locations
Different valve types, sizes, and installation locations are available on request. A 2″ 316 stainless steel ball valve is standard.
Available options include butterfly valves, angled offset valves, camlock couplers, sanitary valves, and more.

Custom Tank Sizes
Stainless steel IBCs have base dimensions measuring 42″ L x 48″ W, standard. Height varies on volume capacity.
Custom IBC tank sizes are available on request with non-standard dimensions for specific applications and work setups that require a set, custom SS IBC size.
Manway & Lid | Tank Access

Wide Mouth Manway
Stainless steel IBCs feature a 22″ nominal lid and manway for superior accessibility and ease of access to the IBC container interior.

2″ Rieke Vent
The fusible vent is an SS IBC standard configuration option. The 2″ Rieke brand fusible vent is a plug-type emergency relief device built into the SS IBC lid.
This option is not intended for removal during normal use. The Rieke brand 2″ fusible vent provides worry-free security to prevent an explosion in the event of an active fire as required by DOT regulations.

3″ Fusible Vent TOE Nipple
The fusible vent is an SS IBC standard configuration option. The 3″ fusible vent is a screw-cap lid type emergency relief device for installation and use on a custom SS IBC lid with a 3″ TOE nipple.
This option allows removal so the vent port can be used as a filling aperture. The vent cap must be replaced and properly torqued to provide explosion security in the event of an active fire per DOT regulations.
