Water IBC Totes

About IBC Water Totes

Water IBC Totes are intermediate bulk containers designated for the handling, storage, and transportation of potable and non-potable water. Water totes are highly reusable and long lasting when used for water applications only. Water IBC tanks are the poly caged tote IBC model, which provides the lightest, most robust and cost effective option for all bulk water operations. IBC totes for water storage are available in 275 gallon and 330 gallon volumes. They are rated to 1.9 specific gravity, making them well suited for handling the weight of water.

We offer water IBC totes in both new and rebottled model options. Both options pass performance-oriented packaging standards of the Department of Transportation (DOT) Title 49 CFR Section 178 for leakproofness, stacking, pressure, and durability. These water IBCs are also approved according to IMDG and UN recommendations for domestic and offshore uses and are labeled with DOT/UN markings 31HA1/Y.

Our USA made water totes feature an inner cargo bottle containerized by a reinforced galvanized steel frame integrated with a composite type pallet. The tank is extrusion blow molded from industrial grade virgin high density polyethylene (HDPE) resin.

Modern, American-based fabrication incorporates only BPA free, FDA food grade certified quality HDPE that complies with NSF 61 requirements for drinking water systems. Manufacture includes ultraviolet (UV) stabilizers to resist harmful sunlight degradation and ensures applicable long term outdoor use.

Water IBC Tote Engineering

Water IBC totes have a galvanized steel frame that is a reinforced, warp resistant, tubular steel grid jacket that supports and protects the HDPE liner. The zinc-plated steel cage durably resists the harmful effects of rust, physical impacts, snapping, and environmental conditions of moisture, wind, heat, and sunlight. Water IBC cages feature two removable upper support bars, front and rear product and tank information panels, and front discharge valve access.

Water IBCs feature an integrated, composite type pallet base that simplifies product movement and increases mobility. The composite base is made from high molecular weight HDPE and galvanized steel. The unified skid has a flat steel plate that supports the HDPE bottle. Water IBC tote pallets have four way, multidirectional steel access channels that are compatible with forklifts and pallet jacks. These access channels allow the water tote to be approached and maneuvered from each cardinal direction.

  • 275 Gallon Water IBC Tote Dimensions: 48″ L x 40″ W x 46″ H
  • 330 Gallon Water IBC Tote Dimensions: 48″ L x 40″ W x 53″ H

Water IBC totes are translucent, which allows sight gauging of the water level. Water totes feature a 6″ HDPE screw cap with buttress style threading and gasket. Totes have a 2″ HDPE lever-action discharge ball valve, gasket, cover, and male quick disconnect camlock installed.

Water IBC Tote Advantage

Water IBCs are cube shaped and sized around the international standard dimensions for shipping pallets. This unique engineering makes the IBC easy and efficient to handle, organize, stack, fill, load, and transport. The construction materials of water IBCs are highly recyclable, making them a potentially environmentally friendly option. Use of water IBC totes decreases operational wastes and disposal costs through their increased volume capacity and ability to be reused and/or recycled. These water IBC design advantages contribute to increased productivity, ease of use, versatility, and for businesses, decreased costs associated with product loss, labor, shipping, and liability concerns.

Water IBC Options

IBC totes for water are available in new or rebottled model options in 275 gallon or 330 gallon capacity volumes.

  • New water IBC totes are completely new manufactured products that have never seen service before. This option is more expensive due to having both a new cage frame and inner HDPE bottle.
  • Rebottled water IBC totes have a newly manufactured, FDA approved HDPE liner within a reconditioned steel frame that is used but has been fully cleaned and inspected. Rebottled water totes meet, exceed, and pass all top industry standards for potable and non-potable water usage. This option is less expensive due to the previously used steel frame.

Stacking and Handling of Water IBC Totes

All water IBCs are stackable and feature 4 way multi-directional pallet jack / forklift access channels. Engineering approves IBC stacking to 3 IBCs if empty and no more than 2 if weighted with water cargo. Water totes are lightweight and can often be handled by two when empty. When full, the integrated pallet base allows movement via pallet jack or forklift.
